Trent Mitton might have had little choice but to excel in hockey, which he took up at the age of five. Mitton is a name etched in Australian hockey history with Trent the latest of three generations to represent the Kookaburras. His grandfather Don Mitton represented Australia in 1958 while his father Grant played from 1983 to 1989, competing at the 1984 Olympic Games and winning World Cup gold in 1986.
Playing alongside his older brother Joel, who also represented WA, at Wesley South in Perth has always been a highlight for Mitton.
Mitton cites his two Commonwealth Games gold medals in 2010 and 2014 as career highlights. He is also a sports coach, having worked at a high school while completing a sport traineeship.
