SA-born Wickham has had an interesting path to the National Senior Men’s Squad, having grown up in Alice Springs before moving to Perth to pursue Hockey.

Wickham, who moved to WA in 2011 on an AIS scholarship, debuted for the Kookaburras in 2013 against Korea in Perth. The forward was unable to add to his two caps from 2013 until a breakout 2017 when he played all 32 games for the calendar year and scored 15 goals.

Among the highlights for Wickham was a double in the 2017 Oceania Cup final where Australia defeated New Zealand 6-0. Wickham got on the scoresheet in the 2017 World League Final semi-final victory over Germany as Australia went on to lift the title. He also received a late call-up to 2018 Commonwealth Games gold-medal winning team, after an injury to Blake Govers.
