Tom Craig is a product of Ryde Hunters Hill Hockey Club’s junior mentoring program, which aims to develop junior players into professional elite athletes.

A tall and powerful forward, Craig’s passion for hockey blossomed after travelling the globe with his family, experiencing ice hockey while living in Canada. On his return home to Australia, Craig decided field hockey was the next best thing. Out of the Kookaburras kit, he studies Law and International Studies at Macquarie University.

Craig’s international career endured a stuttering start after his debut against India was postponed by 24 hours when officials discovered he only had a New Zealand passport; his Australian birth certificate was not enough for international clearance.
Somewhat controversially, Craig, whose parents moved to Australia from New Zealand before he was born, is a fan of Australia’s rugby rivals the New Zealand All Blacks and Kiwi rugby team the Crusaders.
