Jane Claxton credits her father Bob, current secretary of the Oceania Hockey Federation, and brother for her entry into hockey. At the age of six she began playing in a mixed gender competition, although the rough and tumble of playing with the boys nearly put her off.
In 2016, Claxton was selected for the Champions Trophy and her Olympic debut, along with being selected to captain the Hockeyroos for the Trans-Tasman Trophy and the International Festival of Hockey in light of Madonna Blyth’s retirement after Rio.
She achieved a career highlight in November when she played – and captained – Australia in front of her home crowd in Adelaide against Japan. Jane is also a dachshund enthusiast and currently studying a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy.
