Nicknamed TJ, Tom grew up in Alice Springs before moving to Perth in 2011 to pursue hockey. He was unable to add to his two caps from 2013 until a breakout 2017 when he played 32 games and scored 15 goals. In 2017, he scored a double in the Oceania Cup Final. TJ received a late call-up to the 2018 Commonwealth Games gold-medal winning team after an injury to Blake Govers. He went on to score five goals at the Tokyo Olympics, including the equaliser in the gold medal match against Belgium. He’s brought up his 100th cap against India at the 2024 Perth International Festival of Hockey.

WHAT HIS TEAMMATES SAY… “Tom is a really athletic, physically strong, fast fit guy who works really hard. His work ethic and ability to keep going…he’s got one of the biggest engines out there and he never comes off the pitch with anything left in the tank.” Corey Weyer
