Lachlan earned his Kookaburras debut in late 2017, thrust into the World League Final. He impressed in his debut tournament and scored his maiden international goal with a thunderbolt in early January against the Netherlands. In 2018, he scored the decisive goal in the Azlan Shah Cup Final, before shaking off injury to claim a gold medal at the Commonwealth Games.
