The current Kookaburras captain, Aran was born and raised in Margaret River. A lot of his family hail from Poland, while his mother is Irish. He’s been a stalwart in the Kookaburras squad since late 2013 and a regular standout as a key senior member of the side. An Olympic silver medallist Aran is hunting the all-elusive gold in Paris, although he has enjoyed Commonwealth Games gold and Champions Trophy gold. Paris will be his third Olympic Games. In 2018 he was the Champions Trophy Player of the Tournament and 2018 Curtin University Sportsperson of the Year. In 2018 he scored a memorable penalty corner variation goal at the 2018 World Cup. In his spare time he enjoys surfing and spending time with his young kid and family, after he became a father in May 2023. He’s an ambassador and guest speaker for Southwest Sports that aims to educate and encourage regional athletes to engage in sport and recreation in South West WA. Active supporter of MSWA (formerly The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Western Australia) and takes part in their organised events designed to raise awareness for health issues such as multiple sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease.
