The Australian umpire program has been developed for umpires wishing to officiate in top level, open age national championships or international games.

Minimum requirements to undertake Australian umpire qualification?
The prerequisite for the Australian umpire accreditation is a Level 2 umpire accreditation.

The Australian umpire training program is designed to train umpires in the advanced concepts of umpiring including self-management skills, performance analysis, knowledge of advanced hockey skills and techniques, rule interpretation, player management, co-umpire support, communication skills and risk management.

It is a comprehensive and challenging training program involving seminars, practical sessions, applied learning, self-development and requirements a practical evaluation.

How to get the qualification
There are three steps to gaining your Australian umpire accreditation.

1. The Australian umpire accreditation is practically assessed at the AHL.

2. Once assessed as being competent, visit the HockeyEd site and log into your account.

3. Once logged-in, you can register for the Australian umpire accreditation ($50 payable through PayPal) by clicking on ‘umpire’, then ‘Australian umpire’.
