World Cup Selection Panels – Expressions of Interest

The Hockey Australia Masters Committee is pleased to call for expressions of individuals interested in being a part of Hockey Australia Masters Selection Panels to select teams for World Cup 2022 events. Nominations close on 7 February 2022.

The following age groups will be selected – Over 35 to Over 65 (Men and Women) and Over 70 and 75 (Men).

All athletes must be eligible to represent Australia at the relevant World Cup in 2022. In accordance with the modified selection policies the following athletes will be able to nomination for selection:

• Interested athletes who are unable to attend the Masters Invitational Events (includes injury)
• Interested athletes who will attend the Masters Invitational Event
• Australian athletes who are overseas and interested in nominating

This information is provided in preparation for selection of Masters World Cup teams 2022 on the understanding that the planned Invitational events will go ahead.  All Invitational events are subject to continued monitoring due to the Covid situation in Australia.  If the events become unviable for any reason, other selection opportunities may be provided.

• Women’s Event details: 14-18 March 2022, Newcastle International Hockey Centre – Over 34s to Over 65s.
• Men’s Event details: 25-27 February 2022, Sydney Olympic Park & surrounds (6km radius) – Over 34s to Over 55s.
• Men’s Event details: 18-20 March 2022, Sydney Olympic Park & surrounds (6km radius) – Over 60s to Over 75s.

To be eligible for appointment, selectors must meet COVID requirements to travel to NSW during 2022. In the event that Masters Invitational Events are unable to go ahead, selectors will need to be available to meet with the Selection Panel via digital meetings.  It may be necessary to attend selection trials on other dates as part of the process.

Selections
There is no guarantee that any Australian Teams will participate in World Cup 2022 events, or that World Cup events will go ahead. Australian Masters teams will only be selected if there are sufficient players of standard in that age group.
