Hockey Australia (HA) has today announced three member associations have been shortlisted in the process to determine the location and host of the future High Performance ‘Centre of Excellence’ in Australia.

The shortlisted bids are Hockey ACT, Hockey Victoria and Hockey WA.

HA is delighted by the level of interest it received through the Expression of Interest process, displaying the deep level of support Hockey has right across Australia.

Five bids were presented to an Assessment Panel, compromising two HA Board Members, the HA High Performance Director and two independent members.

The Assessment Panel weighted all submissions against selection criteria, designed to produce the optimal outcome for Hockey in Australia.

This selection criteria encompasses a range of requirements including world-class facilities for athletes on and off the field, administration headquarters, learning and developmental facilities, major event capabilities and funding viability.

Hockey Australia is taking every step to ensure the selection process is impartial, to guarantee the outcome represents the very best option for all stakeholders including athletes, staff, and fans.

This investment will secure the world’s best Hockey development support systems and environment for Hockey Australia athletes.

The three shortlisted bids are now asked to present their best and final offers to the Hockey Australia Board, with the final decision expected by the end of 2022.

Hockey Australia’s High Performance Unit is currently located in Perth under an agreement with the Western Australian Government and Hockey WA which expires in December 2024.
