Schedule released for Season 5 of FIH Pro League

The Kookaburras and Hockeyroos fixtures for the FIH Pro League 2023-24 Season have been confirmed following the announcement of the schedule by the International Hockey Federation (FIH).
Both teams will open their campaigns in Bhubaneswar, India in February 2024. The Hockeyroos’ first match is against China on 4 February, with the Kookaburras starting their season against Spain on 11 February.
The three week ‘mini-tournament’ in India will see the Hockeyroos take on China, the USA, India and the Netherlands.
The Kookaburras will feature first up alongside Spain, newcomers Ireland, the Netherlands and India.
The Australian teams’ remaining matches of Season 5 will be held in Belgium and England from 29 May - 12 June.

The FIH Pro League schedule is based on a series of ‘mini-tournaments’ where several teams gather in one venue to play two matches against each other. Australia is among six of the competing countries not hosting a ‘mini-tournament’ in Season 5.
“Being an Olympic year, playing mini tournaments in India, Europe and the United Kingdom will provide the Kookaburras and Hockeyroos with an ideal lead into Paris to give them the best chance of success,” said Hockey Australia CEO David Pryles.
“The recently completed Pro League season proved how valuable the tournament is for our teams and athletes in testing and challenging themselves against the other best hockey nations.”
“For the Hockeyroos and Kookaburras to each have 16 quality international matches in the first half of next year is going to be highly beneficial.”
“With the cost and financial requirements on National Federations to host FIH Pro League mini tournaments, Hockey Australia is not in a financial position to host in Season 5.”
Season 5 begins on 6 December 2023 in Argentina with a ‘mini tournament’ between Argentina, Great Britain and the Netherlands.
The Hockeyroos finished third in the 2022-23 FIH Pro League Season, with the Kookaburras ending the season in seventh.
All Hockeyroos and Kookaburras matches will be broadcast LIVE and free on 7plus.

About the FIH Pro League
The FIH Hockey Pro League is an annual global home and away league involving the world’s best men’s and women’s hockey nations. The best men’s and women’s team of the season – having accumulated the highest number of points at the end of the League – are crowned Champions. The first edition of the FIH Pro League was in 2019. The Kookaburras won the inaugural edition and the Hockeyroos finished runners-up before COVID disrupted the second and third seasons. More information on the FIH Pro League
