Hockeyroos squad announced for 2026 FIH Pro League Block 1 in Hobart
Hockey Australia is pleased to announce the Hockeyroos squad for Block 1 of the FIH Pro League, with 24 athletes selected for the opening matches in Hobart from 11–15 February.
The Hobart block marks the first competitive action of the international season for the Hockeyroos, as the group continues to build combinations and depth ahead of a pivotal year on the international calendar.
The squad features a strong mix of experience and emerging talent, including four players in line to make their Hockeyroos debut: Neasa Flynn (WA), Sarah Byrnes (WA), Casey Dolkens (QLD) and Makayla Jones (NSW). Their inclusion reflects the continued focus on developing depth and providing opportunities at the international level.
With athletes selected from across seven states and territories, the Hobart matches will offer an important early-season platform for players to stake their claim in the Pro League campaign while contributing to the program’s broader international objectives later in the year.
“Hobart is an exciting opportunity for this group and a great way to start our Pro League campaign,” Hockeyroos head coach Rhett Halkett said.
“We’ve selected a squad that balances experience with players who have earned opportunities through strong domestic and national program performances. For those in line to make their debut, it’s a chance to step into the environment, express themselves at international level.”
Hockeyroo, Kaitlin Nobbs said the group was eager to begin the campaign together on the international stage.
“The group is extremely excited for this first block of Pro League,” Nobbs said.
“It will be the first opportunity to play together internationally with our new squad. It is an important competition particularly leading into the World Cup Qualifiers and later World Cup in the middle of the year.
“I can’t wait to see the spark and speed and skill that the new young girls bring into our team, especially under our new head coach Rhett (Halkett).”
The Hockeyroos will play across five days of competition in Hobart, with the block forming a key foundation for the team’s ongoing preparations on the road to major international events.
Hockey Australia also confirmed that further squad announcements will be made in the coming weeks, with selections still to be finalised for the World Cup Qualifiers later this year, as well as Block 2 of the Pro League. These upcoming selections will reflect ongoing performances across the domestic and international calendar as the Hockeyroos continue to build depth and flexibility across the program.
