Hockey Australia is thrilled to announce it will partner with highly regarded and respected insurance broker Honan in respect to its National Insurance Program requirements from 2020.

Key details of the new partnership with Honan include:

  • A range of improved Personal Accident, Public Liability and Management Liability coverages;
  • Enhanced capital benefits coverage of $250k up from $75k;
  • Quadriplegia and paraplegia coverage of $500k for all participants; and
  • Improved insurance coverages provided at the same price per participant.

“This is a fantastic outcome for the Hockey Network that will provide substantially improved protection and coverage for significant events to all participants with no increase year on year,” said Hockey Australia GM Finance, HR & Administration - Lauren Watt.

“This transition has been conducted with due and thorough process via a strongly contested external tender that saw five responses submitted. Each response was evaluated by the Tender Evaluation Panel that included representatives from across the Hockey Network including three Member Association CEO’s.

“The tender was conducted to ensure that we protect the best interests of all in the Hockey Network and we are very pleased with the outcome.

“We thank Honan for the expertise they have demonstrated and look forward to working with them as our trusted insurance brokers for many years to come.”

Andrew Fluitsma, Chief Executive Officer of Honan Insurance Group said: “Honan is passionate about building great partnerships and delivering value added outcomes.

“Sporting associations are an important industry for the Honan Insurance Group, it is part of our DNA. From the very top of our organisation with board members Richard Colless and Sally Carbon, who have participated and lead professional sports teams and associations, to our support at the grass roots level.  I am extremely proud of the work our team have delivered so far and look forward to a long trusting partnership with Hockey Australia.”

As part of the transition, Honan has developed a new website (hockey.honansport.com.au) and claims portal which will allow all Clubs and Member Associations 24/7 access to the policies, claims portal and to download their certificates of currency from 19th December 2019.
