Hockey Australia release first Diversity, Equity & Inclusion plan

Hockey Australia have published their 2023 Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Plan centred around priority communities within Australian hockey.
The Plan was publicly announced at the Pride in Sport Conference in Melbourne on Wednesday 30 November by Michael Johnston, Hockey Australia’s Chief Strategy Officer & General Counsel.
Four key pillars underpin the Plan -Educate, Partner, Visible and Report.
The Plan aligns with four of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals – Gender Equality, Partnerships for the Goals, Quality Education and Reduced Inequalities.
The Sustainable Development Goals were set up in 2015 to provide a pathway to peace and prosperity for people and the planet by 2030.
“There are many diverse communities in our hockey family” said Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Manager Melissa Gmeiner.
“The 2023 DEI Plan calls out the specific priority communities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, people with disability, culturally and linguistically diverse people. LGBTQ+ community and women & girls.”
