Hockey Australia are thrilled with the announcement from the Queensland Government that it would progress with its bid to host the 2032 Olympic Games.

President of Hockey Australia, Melanie Woosnam welcomed the decision and reinforced the benefits a home Olympic Games would have for not only the sport of hockey but all of Australia.

“Moving forward with the bid is great news for Australia, Queensland and of course for hockey,” said Woosnam.

“The power of sport and the Olympic Games is incredible and we look forward to playing our part and supporting the effort to bring the Olympic Games to Queensland in 2032.

“If Australia were to be awarded the right to host the Games, it would not only provide a whole new generation of hockey players with a once in a lifetime opportunity to play hockey in front of a home crowd, but also deliver a long lasting legacy to inspire more people to get active and play sport.”
