Hockey Australia congratulates Kieren Perkins OAM on his appointment as Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Sports Commission (ASC).
A dual Olympic gold medallist, Perkins takes on the role after most recently being President of Swimming Australia and CEO of Australia Unity Bank.
“We look forward to working with Kieren and the ASC and congratulate them both on this important appointment for the future of Australian sport,” said Hockey Australia Acting CEO, Michael Johnston.
“Kieren has proven success both as an athlete in the sporting arena and in his professional career since he was first an ASC Commissioner in 2001.”
“To have someone of Kieren’s stature who comes from an Olympic sport and has a passion for further growing and supporting National Sporting Organisations of Olympic sports, it is encouraging not only for hockey but every sport with the highly anticipated lead up to a home Olympics in 2032.”
“Rob Dalton has done a fantastic job in the role and we thank him for his tireless work in overseeing and guiding Sport Australia over the past 2 years.”
Johnston also welcomed the announcement of Lyn Anderson joining the ASC Board.
“Lyn did an incredible job as CEO of Paralympics Australia and will add enormous value to the direction of Australian sport and its important role in Australian culture and society.”
“The next decade is filled with so much opportunity and optimism, so we look forward to working with the ASC during this exciting period.”
