Hockey Australia and Kookaburra Sport unveil player-designed kits under new apparel partnership
Hockey Australia is proud to announce Kookaburra Sport as its official apparel partner, marking a new chapter in one of Australian sport’s most enduring partnerships and ushering in a bold new era of apparel for the national teams, pathways and fans.
As part of the new agreement, Kookaburra will design and supply on-field and off-field apparel across all Hockey Australia programs, with the 2026 kits uniquely shaped by the voices and experiences of the players themselves.
Athletes from across the Kookaburras, Hockeyroos and national pathway programs have been directly involved in the design process, ensuring the kits reflect the identity, performance demands and stories of those who wear them.
The new range will be showcased throughout the 2026 season, spanning international competition, domestic events and pathway representation, and forms the centrepiece of the Hockey Australia x Kookaburra kit campaign ‘Every Stitch, A Story’ — a celebration of the people, moments and journeys that define Australian hockey.
Player feedback was central to the development of the 2026 kits, with athletes calling for a strong return to Australia’s traditional green and gold across both Home and Away uniforms. Players were keen to reinforce the visual connection between the men’s and women’s programs on and off the field, while maintaining the storytelling elements that reflect hockey’s culture and pathways. The Hockeyroos led the push for bold all-gold and all-green playing kits, ensuring a confident, unified national identity that resonates across generations.
The kits also feature a bespoke Indigenous design created by Kevin Bynder, in collaboration with Nova Peris, telling the story of Australian hockey from grassroots to the highest level. Circular motifs represent the Hockeyroos and Kookaburras, surrounded by symbols of players and hockey sticks, while smaller circles acknowledge clubs and junior participants. Pathways within the artwork illustrate the journey from junior hockey to national representation, completed by a kangaroo for the Hockeyroos and a kookaburra for the men’s program. The design is grounded in Country through the depiction of the Darling Ranges as the Waagyl (Rainbow Serpent), a creator spirit in Noongar culture, reinforcing connection, continuity and pride.
