First match of Kookaburras’ series with Malaysia cancelled
Published Tue 19 Apr 2022
The opening match of the Kookaburras’ series against Malaysia in Perth will now be played on Saturday 23 April, not this Thursday as initially scheduled.
Thursday’s series opener has been cancelled due to travel challenges with Malaysia’s national men’s team which will only see them arrive in Perth late on Thursday night.
The series will now comprise four matches, starting with a 4pm pushback on Saturday.
The other scheduling update for the series is the change of start time for the final match on Thursday 28 April, which will now begin at 12pm local time (not 6.30pm as scheduled).
Those who have pre-purchased tickets to this Thursday’s cancelled match and the match on Thursday 28 April (new start time) will receive an email from Hockey Australia regarding the refund process.
Patrons are invited to purchase tickets to any of the four matches.
The series against Malaysia will be the first international matches the world number one ranked Kookaburras have played since last year’s Tokyo Olympics.
New Kookaburras squad additions James Collins, Craig Marais, Ky Willott and goalkeeper Ben Rennie are all expected to make their debuts in the series.
Tickets for all four matches are available now. Every match will also be livestreamed on LIVEHockey. Match 1 on Saturday will be free to watch on LIVEHockey with the remaining three matches requiring a subscription.
