David Wansbrough nominated for spot on FIH Executive Board

Former Kookaburra David Wansbrough is in contention to be elected to the International Hockey Federation (FIH) Executive Board when the 48th FIH Congress is held on 5 November 2022.
Hockey Australia (HA) nominated Wansbrough, who is a highly respected figure of hockey in Australia.
A dual Olympian who won Silver at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics and played over 200 games for the Kookaburras between 1985 and 1998, Wansbrough is currently the President of the Victorian Olympic Council and a Partner of successful stockbroking firm Evans and Partners.
Wansbrough is among seven nominees vying for two vacant Executive Board Ordinary Member male positions.
“David is a passionate hockey person who has an unwavering desire to see the sport thrive, not only in Australia but around the world,” said HA President Ross Sudano.
“As well as having an astute knowledge of the game, David has exceptional business and executive acumen.
“He would be an outstanding addition to the FIH Executive Board and a valuable contributor in helping guide the sport globally.”
Wansbrough remains heavily involved in hockey at a local level as coach of Camberwell Hockey Club in the Victoria Women’s Premier League.

Nominations will now be submitted to the FIH Elections Oversight Panel (EOP) by FIH CEO Thierry Weil in accordance with the FIH Regulations.
The aim of the EOP is to ensure FIH elections are carried out in a fair and transparent manner. Any nomination has to be approved by the EOP before being validated.
The FIH Executive Board consists of:
• FIH President
• Eight Ordinary members - four female and four male Members - one half being renewed every two years
• An Athletes’ Representative
• Presidents of the Continental Federations
• FIH CEO
