Hockey Australia has today announced Canberra as the host of the 2024 Australian Indoor Hockey Championships from 3-25 January.
The nation’s capital will welcome the best indoor hockey players from across the country over a jam-packed three-week schedule comprising approximately 72 teams encompassing U13, U15, U18, U21 and Open age divisions.
The announcement comes following the recent news that Canberra will host the JDH Hockey One League 2023 Finals Main Event on 25-26 November.
“Canberra has a first-class indoor hockey facility, so it’s a fantastic outcome for the Australian Indoor hockey community and the Canberra sporting public,” said Hockey Australia Chief Events Officer Simon Butterly.
“Hockey ACT has played an integral role in securing and hosting the 2024 Championships, so we thank CEO Rob Sheekey and his team for their support and commitment.
“The strength and popularity of Indoor hockey in Australia is underlined by the high representation and number of teams in each age division, coupled with the high level of talent participating.”
Canberra last held the national indoor event in November 2014.
“Hockey ACT is excited to host our first National Championship event in nearly a decade,” said Hockey ACT CEO Rob Sheekey.
“It is a wonderful opportunity to welcome Australia’s best indoor players to Canberra and showcase what Canberra has to offer Australia’s best hockey players.”
Every match of the championships will be streamed LIVE on LIVEHockey.
Last year’s Australian Indoor Hockey Championships were held at the Brisbane Sports & Entertainment Complex.
