Renowned solutions company ATCO Australia has signed on as a Hockey Australia community partner.
Backed by global expertise and experience across electricity generation and transmission, natural gas, water, storage, renewable energy and structures, ATCO has a long history of partnering with communities and indigenous groups, energising industries and delivering customer focussed infrastructure solutions.
The partnership sees ATCO Australia become a community partner of HA’s National Social Inclusion Program (NSIP), while also having an affiliation with the Kookaburras and Hockeyroos plus HA's various national championships.
The NSIP encompasses the work being done by HA in Western Australia’s Pilbara region, with ATCO's investment to broaden the community hockey program's reach into the goldfields area near Kalgoorlie.
"Securing a global business like ATCO that has a strong focus on community engagement is a wonderful addition to our hockey family," said Tim Cherry, HA GM - Commercial, Communications and Events.
"ATCO’s values largely align with ours, and their commitment will allow Hockey Australia to run a five week hockey program in Indigenous communities and schools in the Western Australian Goldfields.”
“Hockey Australia is passionate about growing the game of hockey and supporting Indigenous communities. We want to expand our community program further in the remote regions of mid-west and south-west of Western Australia.”
The goldfields program, which will be undertaken by Kookaburras and Hockeyroos athletes, will include school visits, hockey clinics and education sessions on the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle.
“Our partnership is underpinned by our commitment to the communities in which we operate and a shared goal of fostering greater diversity and inclusion - from the workplace to the sporting field,” said Mr Creaghan.
“Our organisation is shaped by the many people from diverse cultures and backgrounds, so for us it makes sense to partner with a sport that champions diversity and inclusion, as well as supporting physical activity from a young age.”
Hockey Australia’s Commercial Partnerships Manager, Tyler Lovell and General Manager of Finance, HR & Administration, Lauren Watt, joined Kookaburras duo Josh Beltz, Jack Welch, and Hockeyroos Mariah Williams and Kaitlin Nobbs, as well as Hockey Australia Board Member Pat Hall, at ATCO’s WA Jandakot operations to officially welcome the organisation to HA’s suite of partners.
