This year’s Australian Emerging (U18) and Junior (U21) Women’s and Men’s Indoor Squads have been selected following the completion of the 2023 Australian Indoor Championships.

The announcement of the squads comes as Australia’s Senior indoor teams return home following the FIH Indoor World Cup in Pretoria, South Africa.

“It was fantastic to finally have national championships after two years,” said Australian Indoor Women’s Head Coach, Mark Sandhu.

“It was pleasing to see the performances of the states and individual players that have stepped up to stake their claim in the national squads.”

Indoor Men’s Head Coach, Steve Willer lauded the quality of hockey to come from the national event in Brisbane.

“The resilience and talent of Australian indoor hockey players was on display,” said Willer.

“After a long break due to COVID it was exciting to see the players bounce back and show their skills.”

“The standard across the competitions was high and the depth and potential within the selected squads puts indoor hockey in Australia on a strong footing going forwards.”

The Australian Men’s Junior Squad boasts the top goal scorer from the U21 Men’s Australian Indoor Championships, Western Australian Thomas Keating.

Among the players selected in the Australian Women’s Junior squad are three players from the Victorian team that won the U21s event – captain Isabella Bozzone as well as goalkeepers Gemma Kahanoff and Aurelienne Pywell.

Michael Arthur, who took out both the Player of the Tournament and Leading Goal Scorer in the U18 Men’s Division, headlines a host of exciting young talent in the Men’s Emerging Squad.

Training camps for each squad throughout the year are expected to be scheduled and announced in due course.

The Australian Senior Men’s and Women’s Indoor Squads will be announced after the FIH Indoor World Cup.
